Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Auto

So... I am back on the tiny island of Singapore. With 6 million people squeezed into a total land area of about 700 square kilometres, one can expect public transportation to be jam-packed at any time of the day. Yes... Singapore has an extensive and efficient network of public transport, but would you want to spend one hour rocking away on a fully-packed 60kmh bus smelling other people's armpits when the same journey by car would take only 10 minutes?

I actually went to have a look at the latest 2011 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6... but it costs a whopping SGD83,000. That's RIDICULOUS!

So I got a used NOV06 Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 Auto instead, for half the price of a new Altis! It's in immaculate condition. I'm lucky I got a used car whose previous owner took really really good care of it. What a steal! And besides, I love this car, after having driven one before leaving Singapore three years ago. This one is exactly the same as the one I had... same model... same engine... same colour even, except for minor updates in interior fittings. OK... it's a very "ah pek" car... but what the hell... I like it!

I mentioned in my VW Golf post on 19Sep10 that Japanese car engine bays look very messy compared to European makes. Here... this is what I meant... wires and pipes sticking out and running all over the place...

This is a photo (taken just a few days after delivery) of the very car I used to drive 3 years ago... try to spot the differences!! (BTW... if you're wondering, no I do not stay in the nice house in the background... )

Happy driving!
